Special Reason watercolour effects

Try this…

Take the largest daisy image from the Special Reasons stamp set (SU) and color three different colors directly on the stamp. I used Cucumber Crush in the center, So Saffron on the inner petals and Flirty Flamingo on the outside petals. Then using your Stampin’ Spritzer, mist the whole thing really well. (I probably misted it too much, but I do love what happened next!)

This picture (above) isn’t the greatest, but maybe you can sort of see how it turned out. I simply stamped that big flower image three times on three separate pieces of Whisper White cardstock. Each time I stamped I breathed an “Oh-h-h-h!” to myself! Watercolor does that to me every time! You just NEVER know what it will surprise you with.
Using those three images, I created the following cards. See what I mean? From bright and happy to sweet and soft! They cover all moods.
And don’t you LOVE how that stem die from the Special Reasons set creates a gorgeous negative space?! I just love everything about this set!

You can buy the stamp sets, framelits, ink pads & papers along with many other supplies on my site below. And while you’re there don’t forget to look at the calendar and see which of the upcoming monthly classes work best for your schedule so you can learn how to make this card!!!

How to Tie the Perfect Flat Bow

Hello there friends! I had not realized how long it’s been since I’ve blogged. One of the nicest ways to finish off a card is with a ribbon bow.  I thought I was pretty good at tying ribbon, but I found that without a consistent method, some of my bows were perfect, and others were definitely not.  I would sit there trying to reverse engineer the good ones and work out what I had done!  My downfall was single-sided ribbon, I could never work out how to get the pattern to remain uppermost, and many twists and loops later, it was hit-and-miss as to whether I had the desired result.

Now that I have sat down and had a bit of a think, here is a very easy method to tie a perfect flat bow using single-sided or double-sided ribbon.   I hope it helps you as much as it has helped me.

* For this method you can leave the ribbon on the spool and cut it once the bow is finished to save ribbon wastage.

Step 1:  Make a loop ensuring the cut end (this will be the tail) is on the top and pinch to hold.

Step 2:  Wrap the ribbon around the front to form a small loop (just like tying your shoe) and bring it round to the back.  See how the underside of the ribbon is now showing?  Give the ribbon a tight half-twist close to where you are pinching the centre, so the printed side is uppermost and  push it through the central loop as shown below to form the bow.

Step 3:  Gently pull on both loop ends to tighten the centre knot.  You can make adjustments here to ensure your bow is the size you require and that both tails are sitting flat.

Step 4:  Once you’re happy, pull tight and trim the ends.

Step 5:  Add it to your project!  With a bit of practise you too will master the perfect flat bow.

First Friday blog hop-Easter

Happy Friday and welcome to the first edition of the Glitter Queens Blog Hop. Myself and a few of my fellow demonstrators have came together and decided to do a Blog hop on the first Friday of each month and today is the first edition…as you can see the theme for this hop is EASTER!

20170406_094853_wm

I just love Springtime and Easter everything is cute and fluffy and chocolatey!! Cute is exactly the description I would give to this card. The greeting “You’re egg-stra special” just called for an egg-shaped card…I just couldn’t resist the play on words.

I use the BASKET BUNCH stamp set and BASKET BUILDER framelits dies that coordinate so beautifully together. And by the way if you buy these as a bundle you’ll save 10%!  As you can see there is everything from flowers to Easter eggs to peeps, yes little bunny peeps, that you can stamp and cut out for any number of cute cards. These framelits make it so easy to be creative!

Masculine Mondays

Here is another instalment of Masculine Mondays. The cards shown here can be used for the men in our life life for birthdays, graduations, thank you cards and just because I care… because they need to be shown little love too!

Are you ready for fun card which is perfect for celebrating any occasion worth celebrating? I mean really, how can you not be ready to have some fun when you see balloons, right? I used the Ballon Pop-Up Thinlets die to create the focal point for this fun shaker card.

When you use the Balloon Pop Up Thinlits Die, it makes assembly even easier. All you have to do is cut out the cardstock for the inside of your card, and position the thinlit die in the center. There is a “point” on the thinlit die, to show you where to position the die to the center. Then it cuts out all pieces, and even does the score lines for you. I made it happen on the very first try. The stamp set itself is good for all ages.

There is even a greeting that says “Open me Already”, you could use this on gift tags for both birthdays and Christmas. The greetings in this set are split up, so that you can use different wording each time. For example, one time you could say “The best is yet to come, let’s celebrate” or the next time you could say “The best is yet to come, Party On” The balloons that are in this stamp set, also co-ordinate with the Balloon Bouquet Punch, so lots of uses with this card, for young and old.
Bundle and Save… if you purchase both the Stamp Set and the Thinlits Die together you will save 10%. You could also earn one or both FREE or discounted just by hosting your own class. If you want more information on hosting your own, email me today, I would be happy to give you the details. You can find all the supplies you need to make these beautiful items by clicking the “Shop Now” button. If you have questions, please feel free to message me. Happy Stamping!

Balloon Adventures…again

Are you ready for fun card which is perfect for celebrating any occasion worth celebrating? I mean really, how can you not be ready to have some fun when you see balloons, right? And let’s not forget…GLITTER!

I used the Balloon Adventures stamp set to create the focal point of the front of the card and the matching Ballon Pop-Up Thinlets die was used to create a pop-up for the inside of the card. It is a shadow box card that pops open when you open it up.
